Truepic and Verisk have integrated image authentication directly into the ClaimSearch platform, addressing the surge in AI-generated insurance fraud. For fintech and insurtech professionals, this move embeds deepfake detection into standard claims workflows, mitigating a critical risk as 99% of carriers report encountering manipulated documentation in property and casualty claims.

What was announced

Truepic Vision is now available to all carriers utilizing Verisk’s ClaimSearch, a central intelligence network used by the global insurance industry to detect fraud and evaluate claims. The integration allows claims adjusters to request verified photo and video evidence immediately following a fraud alert, without leaving their existing workflow. This capability can be automatically triggered by customizable, rules-based automation, reducing the manual burden on adjusters.

The system uses authentication technology to verify images at the point of capture. When a user takes a photo or video through the system, it undergoes over 50 automated fraud checks. This process is designed to counter the growing threat of AI-manipulated evidence. According to Verisk’s State of Insurance Fraud study from March 2026, 36% of consumers admitted they would alter a photo to strengthen a claim. Furthermore, while 58% of insurers feel capable of detecting manual edits to real photos, only 32% feel confident identifying deepfakes.

The partnership specifically targets the "confidence gap" and the integration barriers cited by 39% of insurers in Verisk’s study. By streamlining the request for authenticated visuals, the platform aims to free up Special Investigation Units (SIU) to focus on complex cases while accelerating the validation of legitimate claims. The service is currently available to all carriers using the ClaimSearch platform.

"Adjusters shouldn't have to choose between moving fast and getting it right. As AI makes manipulated visuals harder to spot, insurers will benefit from the certainty that comes with being able to trust the integrity of their visual documentation.”

The companies involved

Verisk (Nasdaq: VRSK) is a major data analytics and technology provider serving the global insurance industry. The company operates as a strategic partner for carriers, providing risk assessment tools and claims intelligence. Verisk has a significant market presence, particularly through its ClaimSearch network, which centralizes data to help professionals identify suspicious activity across the sector. Jeff Ryan serves as the Chief Product Officer, Verisk Anti-Fraud Analytics.

Truepic is a specialist in image and video authentication, focusing on digital provenance to ensure the integrity of visual media. The company provides technology that verifies the origin and content of photos and videos at the moment they are created, preventing the use of deepfakes or manipulated imagery in high-stakes environments like insurance and finance. Unlike traditional metadata analysis, Truepic’s approach focuses on securing the capture process itself. This collaboration marks a significant expansion of Truepic's reach into the property and casualty insurance market by embedding its technology into one of the industry's most widely used fraud detection platforms.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed Verisk’s recent efforts to modernize fraud detection and risk assessment. In September 2026, the company launched its Fraud Discovery platform to address the £1.16bn insurance fraud crisis. During the same month, Verisk expanded its reach in the APAC and GCC markets through a partnership with Qantev to transform health and life insurance underwriting. Additionally, the firm addressed emerging infrastructure risks with the US Data Center Exposure Database. Truepic has also been active in the North American market, recently partnering with ISB Global Services to combat AI-generated fraud in Canada.

What this means

This integration signals a shift from reactive fraud detection to proactive authentication. For years, the industry has relied on detecting lies after the fact; this move attempts to make lying with visual evidence technically difficult at the source. As generative AI tools become accessible to the average policyholder, the traditional "trust but verify" model is under immense pressure. The real test for the market will be whether this technology can be scaled without adding friction to the customer experience. If successful, it places significant pressure on legacy fraud tools that rely solely on post-capture analysis, potentially making authenticated capture a standard requirement for all digital claims.
