Cowbell Launches OMNI-Powered AI Risk Advisor to Automate Cyber Resilience for SMEs
By Lauren Towner · 5 October 2026

Cowbell has launched Risk Advisor, an individualized AI agent designed to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with evidence-backed plans to mitigate cyber threats. For fintech professionals, this represents a shift from passive insurance coverage to active risk management, using real-time data to help policyholders strengthen their security posture and reduce potential claims.
What was announced
The launch introduces Risk Advisor, an individualized AI agent designed to provide every policyholder with a prioritized, evidence-backed plan for cyber risk reduction. Operating within Cowbell’s OMNI system—an AI-native decision intelligence platform—the tool is available immediately to businesses in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. It can be accessed through the standard Cowbell Platform or via the OMNI mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The system works by synthesizing various data streams, including Cowbell Factors, Spotlights, and real-time threat intelligence. It utilizes more than 60 "Cowbell Connectors" that provide "inside-out" visibility into a policyholder’s specific digital environment. For companies utilizing artificial intelligence, the Risk Advisor specifically interprets three proprietary AI Cowbell Factors: AI Exposure for observability, AI Vulnerability for autonomy, and AI Assurance for governance. These factors explain the signals behind each category and prioritize actions to strengthen the policyholder’s AI risk posture.
Rather than providing a static list of vulnerabilities, the AI agent explains the reasoning behind each recommendation and identifies which factors are currently influencing a business's risk score. The underlying model draws on a Global Risk Pool containing data from over 55 million businesses. As the risk environment evolves, the OMNI system validates the model against live operations, escalating material differences for human review. When automated guidance is insufficient, the system facilitates direct contact with Cowbell Resiliency Services (CRS) and the firm’s internal cybersecurity experts.
"A 40-person manufacturer shouldn’t need a team of cybersecurity specialists to understand the risks it faces," said Rajeev Gupta, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Cowbell. "With OMNI, every Cowbell policyholder gets their own AI Risk Advisor, grounded in their business, security posture, and policy context. It continuously interprets the signals around that business, prioritizes what matters, explains the evidence supporting its recommendations, and connects the policyholder with Cowbell’s cybersecurity experts when human guidance is needed. This is how cyber insurance becomes an active part of a company’s resilience, rather than a document sitting in a drawer."

The companies involved
Cowbell positions itself as a leading provider of AI-native cyber and specialty insurance specifically tailored for the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market. Headquartered in Pleasanton, California, the firm has focused on bridging the gap between traditional insurance products and the rapidly evolving digital threat landscape. By utilizing artificial intelligence to automate risk assessment and underwriting, Cowbell aims to provide more accurate pricing and proactive protection for businesses that often lack the internal resources of larger corporations.
The company’s approach centers on its OMNI platform, a decision intelligence system that processes vast amounts of data to provide actionable insights. With a presence in major global markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Cowbell has established itself as a significant player in the insurtech sector. The firm’s strategy emphasizes the use of "inside-out" data—information gathered directly from a policyholder’s technology stack—to create a more granular view of risk than traditional "outside-in" scanning alone can provide.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has followed Cowbell’s evolution closely, previously reporting on the launch of the underlying technology for this latest update in Cowbell Debuts OMNI: The AI-Native Decision Intelligence System Revolutionizing Specialty Insurance. The company has also undergone significant leadership changes to support its international footprint, as seen when Cowbell Appoints Simon Hughes as Chief Commercial Officer and Cowbell Announces Next Cycle of Growth, Profitability, and Global Expansion; Appoints John Botros as Chief Financial Officer. These moves followed a broader strategic pivot detailed in Cowbell Unveils Brand Refresh: The Sound Approach to Risk for the New AI Era, which signaled the firm's commitment to AI-driven risk management.
What this means
The introduction of individualized AI agents marks a transition for the cyber insurance sector from a reactive indemnity model to a proactive risk-mitigation service. This move places traditional insurers under pressure, as they often lack the real-time data integration required to offer such granular, continuous advice. By turning a policy into a living security roadmap, the industry is attempting to solve the chronic problem of SME under-protection. However, the success of this model depends on whether small business owners, who are already stretched thin, will adopt these tools as part of their daily operations. The sector must now prove that AI-driven guidance can tangibly lower loss ratios while maintaining user engagement.
