Solera and CHANGAN Partner to Revolutionize European Aftersales and Claims Ecosystem
By Lauren Towner · 15 October 2026

Solera and CHANGAN have expanded their strategic collaboration to integrate Chinese vehicles into the European insurance and repair ecosystem. For insurers and claims managers, this partnership addresses the critical challenge of assessing and repairing new market entrants by providing the data consistency and digital connectivity required to manage claims for CHANGAN’s growing fleet across 15 European markets.
What was announced
The agreement, announced at the Paris Motor Show, focuses on building an aftersales infrastructure that supports vehicles throughout their lifecycle. As Chinese manufacturers capture a larger share of the European market—reaching nearly 12% of new-car sales in August 2026—insurers face the hurdle of assessing damage on unfamiliar models. This collaboration aims to solve that by facilitating access to technical training, repair information, and parts distribution.
The partnership targets three specific areas: data compliance and governance within the European regulatory environment; data consistency to ensure insurers and repairers use identical vehicle information; and the integration of CHANGAN vehicles into digital claims workflows. By utilizing Solera’s technology, including the Qapter digital claims platform and AI-enabled workflows, the companies intend to streamline damage assessment and improve serviceability. CHANGAN, which currently operates in 15 European markets including Germany, the UK, and Spain, plans to expand its footprint to approximately 1,000 sales and service points by 2030. This infrastructure is supported by a pan-European call center and four dedicated parts centers designed to optimize residual values and ensure repairability for European policyholders.
"CHANGAN has been building in Europe for over two decades — from its design centre in Turin and engineering and R&D centre in Birmingham, to its European headquarters in Munich established in 2025. The brand is now present in 15 European markets, with national sales companies in Germany, the UK and Spain, and plans to reach around 1,000 sales and service points by 2030. Behind it sits a service and parts infrastructure built ahead of sales: one pan-European call centre, one service engineering centre and four parts centres, together with roadside assistance and the withU user brand. Because in Europe, supporting a vehicle matters as much as selling it. Europe is a strategic priority for CHANGAN, and our approach is ‘In Europe, for Europe’. Our customers must be able to count on seamless insurance, claims and repair support wherever they drive. Working with Solera helps us connect our vehicles to the ecosystem that will support them throughout their lifecycle."

The companies involved
Solera, a global provider of digital transportation safety and vehicle lifecycle management solutions, is a portfolio company of Vista Equity Partners. The firm maintains a massive footprint in the automotive data sector, serving more than 280,000 customers and partners across 120 countries. Solera’s market position is underpinned by its relationships with over 200 automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide, maintaining directly licensed data from more than 90% of them. This data-centric approach allows the company to act as a bridge between manufacturers and the broader insurance value chain.
CHANGAN AUTOMOBILE EUROPE HOLDING B.V. represents the European arm of the Chinese automotive giant. The company has established a long-term presence in the region, including a design center in Turin, Italy, and an engineering and R&D facility in Birmingham, UK. Its European headquarters was established in Munich in 2025. The brand is currently executing an expansion strategy across 15 markets, focusing on building a "service-first" infrastructure that includes dedicated parts centers and a pan-European support network to compete with established European incumbents.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed Solera’s recent efforts to digitize the motor insurance and repair sectors. In October 2026, the publication reported on how Solera and Verisk Partner to Automate Motor Insurance Claims with Seamless FNOL Image Integration, a move aimed at connecting first notice of loss data directly to the repair floor. This followed the news that Solera and Azimuth Launch Integrated ADAS Calibration Estimating to Standardize Collision Repair, addressing the technical complexities of modern vehicle safety systems.
Earlier in 2026, FF News covered the company's international expansion, noting how Solera and Najm Partner to Transform Saudi Arabia’s Motor Claims with AI Technology. More recently, the firm has also focused on administrative efficiency, as seen when Solera Launches PA Titling Solution to Streamline Automotive Dealership Workflows in Pennsylvania.
What this means from an insurtech perspective
This move highlights a growing pressure on European motor insurers to adapt to the rapid influx of Chinese EV brands. Without granular repair data and established parts networks, these vehicles often face higher premiums or "total loss" designations for minor damage due to repair uncertainty. By integrating CHANGAN directly into Solera’s digital workflows, the partnership reduces the data deficit that typically plagues new market entrants. For carriers and MGAs, this transparency is vital for accurate underwriting and loss ratio management. It signals that the battle for European market share will be won not just in showrooms, but in the claims departments where repairability and residual value are determined.
