BIBA and Markel Launch AI Academy to Boost Practical Skills for Insurance Brokers
1 September 2026

Members of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) can now apply to join the founding cohort of the BIBA & Markel AI Academy. Designed to help insurance brokers develop practical skills to use AI, the first cohort will take place on 14–15 October 2026 at Markel’s offices in Leeds.
It will bring together a group of brokers for two days of practical learning, networking and collaboration. Participants will also help shape the future development of the Academy before the programme is made available more widely to BIBA members.
“Our members are telling us they want to understand how they can harness the opportunities presented by AI while managing the risks. That’s why an AI training school is one of our key 2026 Manifesto commitments.
“The Broker AI Academy aims to give brokers practical skills they can put to use immediately, helping them become more efficient and spend more time supporting their customers.” said Graeme Trudgill, Chief Executive of BIBA
“AI has the potential to fundamentally change the way brokers work, but the opportunity is about much more than technology. It’s about helping brokers use AI to save time, deliver more value for clients and create new opportunities.
“We’re delighted to be working with BIBA to turn its Manifesto commitment into a practical programme that is shaped by brokers and designed around their real-world needs.” said Simon Johnston, Marketing Director, UK at Markel
