Brecon Specialty has appointed Will Gow as Global Head of Claims and Coverage, reinforcing Brecon’s commitment to delivering specialist expertise as businesses face growing exposures from ransomware, artificial intelligence, and digital assets.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the cyber insurance market. The average global cost of a data breach now exceeds £3.5 million, while ransomware is involved in approximately 44% of reported breaches, highlighting the growing importance of specialist claims expertise and cyber response capabilities. At the same time, businesses are grappling with a new generation of exposures linked to artificial intelligence, digital assets, supply-chain dependency, and increasingly interconnected technology ecosystems.

As a dual-qualified solicitor and loss adjuster, and a recognised cyber claims specialist, Gow brings extensive experience advising insurers, brokers and policyholders on complex cyber incidents, ransomware attacks, technology failures, privacy and regulatory matters, digital asset exposures and coverage disputes. He has worked at the intersection of insurance, law and technology, helping organisations respond to and recover from some of their most business-critical events.

Gow also currently serves as Chair of the CILA Cyber & Technology Special Interest Group, is a committee member with both the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) and the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) for Cyber and Technology and is co-author of the book Digital Assets and Insurance, published by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

"The cyber market is evolving faster than ever. Organisations are facing not only ransomware and data breaches but also a new generation of exposures driven by artificial intelligence, digital assets and increasing technology dependency. The best outcomes are achieved when technical expertise, insight and claims excellence come together. Clients need advisors who understand not only how incidents occur, but how businesses recover. I'm excited to join Brecon and to help shape the future of cyber and specialist risks, while continuing to build a best-in-class claims and coverage offering that supports clients through every stage of the cyber risk lifecycle." said Will Gow, Global Head of Claims and Coverage at Brecon Specialty.

"Will has extensive cyber and specialist claims experience and we're delighted to welcome him to Brecon. As cyber threats become more frequent, sophisticated, and business-critical, clients need more than insurance capacity. They need trusted advisors who can support them through every stage of a cyber event. Brecon was built on the belief that underwriting, claims and cyber expertise should not operate in silos. Our integrated model gives clients access to specialist support before, during and after an incident, helping them understand risk, respond effectively and recover with confidence. Will’s appointment further strengthens our ability to deliver that end-to-end service and reinforces our position as a specialist partner for clients, brokers and carriers navigating evolving digital risks." added David Rees, Chief Executive Officer of Brecon Specialty.
