Chubb has appointed Paul Jones as Head of Accident & Health (A&H) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), a move that signals a strategic push to scale its specialty health and travel offerings across diverse markets. For brokers and corporate clients, this leadership change underscores Chubb’s commitment to deepening affinity relationships and refining its underwriting capabilities within the EMEA region.

What was announced

Effective October 1, Paul Jones takes the helm of Chubb’s A&H business across the EMEA region. Operating from Madrid, Jones is tasked with the development and delivery of a comprehensive growth strategy that spans established and emerging markets. His remit focuses on delivering the carrier’s full suite of A&H capabilities to a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including corporate clients, affinity groups, and individual consumers. This role involves deepening key relationships while leveraging the full breadth of the company's proposition to identify new opportunities for expansion.

Jones brings significant internal experience to the role, having served as Head of Corporate A&H for EMEA since October 2025. His tenure at Chubb began in 2018 as Head of Travel for EMEA, followed by leadership of the Small Commercial and Middle Market division. In 2022, he relocated to Madrid to lead the EMEA Underwriting & Servicing Centre, a role aimed at developing the company’s regional capabilities and infrastructure. Before joining Chubb, Jones held senior leadership positions at industry heavyweights Aon and AIG.

In this new capacity, Jones will be responsible for navigating the complexities of consumer-facing health and travel insurance in a region characterized by varying regulatory landscapes and shifting customer expectations. His focus will remain on bringing the full strength of the company's A&H capabilities to the market, ensuring that high-quality solutions are delivered consistently across the diverse geographies within the EMEA territory.

"Paul is a proven leader in A&H with broad market experience across consumer and corporate products and distribution. He has a strong understanding of the needs of our clients and partners and the opportunities for businesses operating in our region. His appointment positions us well as we continue to broaden our offering and deliver high-quality solutions for clients across the region.”

Ana Robic, Regional President EMEA, Chubb.

The companies involved

Chubb is a global leader in the insurance industry, maintaining a physical presence in 54 countries and territories. The company provides a wide array of products, including commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, reinsurance, and life insurance. Chubb is characterized by its extensive distribution network and local operations, which allow it to tailor global products to specific regional needs. The organization serves a diverse client base ranging from multinational corporations to individual policyholders.

The parent company, Chubb Limited, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: CB) and is a constituent of the S&P 500 index. With a global workforce of approximately 45,000 people, the organization is defined by its product and service offerings and exceptional financial strength. In the EMEA region, Chubb operates as a major carrier across multiple lines, often serving as a primary capacity provider for large-scale corporate programs and complex affinity partnerships. Its financial strength and underwriting discipline are central to its market position, particularly in specialty lines like A&H where claims handling and local servicing are critical differentiators for corporate and consumer trust.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed Chubb’s recent leadership restructuring and its focus on technological integration within the EMEA region. The publication recently covered how Chubb Scales Digital Strategy with Key Global Leadership Appointments, highlighting the firm’s push toward a more tech-centric distribution model. This was followed by the news that Chubb Appoints Sean Ringsted as Chief Scientist to Lead Global AI and Data Strategy, reflecting a broader corporate emphasis on data-driven underwriting.

In the EMEA region specifically, FF News reported on the appointment of another senior executive when Chubb Appoints Insurance Veteran Alexis Obligi as Head of Personal Lines for EMEA. Furthermore, the carrier’s appetite for innovative product partnerships was evidenced when Chubb, EyeMed, and Victor Launch Innovative Vision Care Insurance Solution in Italy, demonstrating a clear strategy of expanding specialty health offerings through collaboration and specialized distribution channels.

What this means from an insurtech perspective

The appointment of a leader with deep experience in both corporate and consumer A&H suggests that Chubb is prioritizing the convergence of traditional underwriting with modern distribution. For the insurance sector, this signals that incumbent carriers are increasingly looking to bridge the gap between complex risk assessment and the seamless delivery required by affinity partners. MGAs and technology vendors in the health and travel space will likely face increased pressure as Chubb refines its regional underwriting and servicing centers. The focus on Madrid as a hub for EMEA operations also highlights the ongoing decentralization of insurance leadership, as carriers seek to align more closely with continental European and emerging market requirements to improve loss ratios and customer trust.
