Insurtech Alert: Innovation, Strategic acquisitions, and Capital Movements
By Ali Paterson · 8 September 2026

This week’s Insurtech Eye, brought to you by FF News in association with FinPro, highlights a mix of media innovation, strategic acquisitions, and major capital movements shaping the insurance landscape.
In media news, Goalhanger Productions, the team behind The Rest Is Politics, The Rest Is Entertainment, and The Rest Is Football , has stepped into the insurance arena. Partnering with Star Underwriting, they’re launching the Executive Risk Briefing, a new series exploring geopolitical risk and its impact on global insurance markets.
M&A activity surged across the sector. iPipeline completed its acquisition of Origo, strengthening UK financial services integration. Ignite Insurance expanded internationally with its purchase of Insure My Trip, while CleverSoft acquired FS assist to deepen its insurance reporting capabilities. With capital continuing to flow into the market, consolidation is expected to remain a dominant theme, after all, why innovate when you can acquire.
Funding news also delivered major headlines. SafePoint Holdings took a minority stake in UK specialty MGA Arrow Risk Holdings, marking its first international partnership. Private equity firm Bridgepoint acquired a majority stake in delegated authority technology provider Vipr, and Bermudan reinsurer Chariot Re raised an impressive $700 million, with backing from General Atlantic, MetLife and Chubb.
A week defined by media expansion, acquisition momentum and heavyweight investment across the insurance ecosystem.
