A US and UK tech initiative designed to accelerate access for UK firms to the US market has announced details of a three-city UK tour starting on 5th October with a series of free events and one to one meetings.
Launched in 2022, the InsurTech Corridor is a collaboration between the UK and Connecticut, which aims to assist scaling UK technology businesses connect into the US insurance and financial services ecosystem.
The programme has already assisted more than 20 UK-based insurtech, fintech, climatetech and legaltech ventures to gain traction in the vast US insurance sector based in Hartford, Connecticut.
The five-strong InsurtechCorridor delegation is led by chief business investment officer at the MetroHartford Alliance, Gene Goddard, and Mike Hendy, a former fintech executive and now senior trade officer at the British Consulate in Boston, who leads the support of UK tech firms in insurance, financial services and climate and regulatory markets.
“We wanted to come and meet scaling Insurtechs and Fintechs from all over the UK, and we are excited to join events and hold meetings in Leeds, Edinburgh and Manchester, which all have thriving and impressive tech communities. Many UK tech firms have huge opportunities in the US and within the insurance market in particular, which is concentrated in the city of Hartford,” said Gene Goddard.
The week-long visit will start in Leeds, on Monday 5th October, moving to Edinburgh for events and meetings on 6th and 7th October, and will conclude in Manchester on 8th and 9th October.
“There’s a really vibrant tech community right across the north of England and Scotland, and we are keen to be accessible to as many firms and founders as possible. Whether you are a pure-play insurtech, or a wider fintech, climate tech or legaltech, if you have an opportunity within the US market, especially in the huge insurance market, we want to see if we can help you make faster progress in the market over there,” added Mike Hendy.
Interested companies can meet the InsurTech Corridor team, at events at the University of Leeds Nexus innovation hub (5th October), the Scottish Insurtech Summit and Awards at the EICC in Edinburgh (7th October), at Venture Café in Manchester (8th October).
Registration details for these events can be found at the InsurTech Corridor website where one to one meetings can also be requested via email.
