Tokio Marine GX (TMGX) is an award-winning underwriting business dedicated to providing specialist insurance and risk management solutions to firms looking to decarbonise their operations and unlock new green opportunities. It provides a single point of access for partners and clients committed to more sustainable practices.

The new ecosystem builds on that proposition, extending TMGX’s reach across the green transition value chain and into specialist and emerging areas of risk.

The full ecosystem spans nine specialist partners. Ariel Green provides clean energy technology performance insurance, and Ocean Special Risks operates as a specialist marine MGA. Carbon credit insurance comes from Artio Carbon, while New Energy Risk covers cleantech technology performance. Private credit expertise sits with Avondale Private Capital, and Cedar Crown handles forest and land risk. On nuclear, Northcourt provides insurance including NC Fusion, and Project Safe/Nuclear Risk Insurers covers construction and decommissioning. Elysia rounds out the ecosystem with sustainable aquaculture cover.

The objective of this initiative is to diversify TMGX's book beyond its renewables core of traditional property and liability cover for onshore and offshore wind, solar and battery storage.

The Tokio Marine Group confirmed on 31 August 2026 that underwriting for clean energy-related projects, led by TMGX, drove Group-wide decarbonisation-related insurance premiums to ¥55.5bn (approx. $347m) in FY2025, beating the Group's FY2026 target a year ahead of schedule. A new FY2030 target of ¥100bn (approx. $625m) is now in place.

TMGX offers up to $500 million capacity on any single risk. Claims capability is embedded alongside underwriting, drawing on a dedicated claims team and over 25 years of claims data.

"I am delighted by the progress we have made in just a year. We have proven that the model works and that the demand is clear and growing. In the past 12 months we have diversified our offering, and built an ecosystem of specialist partners to address decarbonisation risk across multiple sectors and stages of the transition journey. We have also played a key role in enabling Tokio Marine Group to hit its decarbonisation-related insurance premiums target early, and now set an even more ambitious goal. We can look forward to the next year with confidence." said Ben Kinder, Chief Underwriting Officer of Tokio Marine GX.

"Our ambition at TMGX has always been to insure every part of the decarbonisation journey, supporting our clients across the rapidly evolving green transition landscape. This is not about developing a single product or addressing a single technology; it is about building a much wider ecosystem of insurance solutions, expertise and partnerships that can support the transition to a Net Zero economy." said Fraser McLachlan, Chairman of Tokio Marine GX.

"TMGX’s recent recognition for Most Innovative Insurance Product of the Year at the Insurance Insider Honours demonstrates what can be achieved when we combine deep underwriting expertise with innovation and a willingness to approach emerging risks differently." said Fraser McLachlan, Chairman of Tokio Marine GX.

"This marks the start of a much wider ecosystem. We will continue to bring together new partners, new expertise and innovative insurance solutions as we build out insurance products across every part of the value chain." said Fraser McLachlan, Chairman of Tokio Marine GX.

"Ultimately, our ambition is simple: wherever our clients are on their decarbonisation journey, we want TMGX and Tokio Marine to be there to help them manage the risk, unlock opportunity and accelerate the transition towards Net Zero." said Fraser McLachlan, Chairman of Tokio Marine GX.

"The team has continued to build a strong and diverse offering as TMGX. For decades, we have delivered solutions for conventional renewables when others wouldn’t, and that same willingness to evolve and diversify is reflected in the new solutions we are developing to support the green transition." said Oliver Litterick, Head of Renewables, Tokio Marine GX.

"The partners we have brought in extend this approach across nuclear, marine, carbon capture and renewables. We look forward to building on this momentum, both within TMGX and across the Tokio Marine Group." said Oliver Litterick, Head of Renewables, Tokio Marine GX.
