OneAdvent Appoints Sebastian Basso as Chief Digital Officer to Drive Insurtech Innovation
By Lauren Towner · 16 October 2026

OneAdvent has appointed Sebastian Basso as its new Chief Digital Officer to spearhead a dedicated digital innovation department. For MGAs and brokers operating within the delegated authority market, this move signals an intensified focus on using AI and data-driven operational design to streamline decision-making and gain a competitive edge over larger, less agile industry incumbents.
What was announced
OneAdvent, the specialist MGA incubator, has appointed Sebastian Basso to the newly created role of Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Based in London, Basso reports directly to Tim Quayle, the Chief Executive Officer of OneAdvent. This appointment marks the formal establishment of a dedicated digital innovation department within the firm, where Basso will work alongside Kristian Feldborg, the Chief Technology Officer.
The primary objective of this new department is to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies, specifically artificial intelligence, to refine how the business operates and delivers services to its clients. Basso’s remit involves leading the company’s digital innovation strategy, focusing on using data and operational design to solve complex business challenges and build scalable solutions.
Basso joins OneAdvent with over ten years of experience in technology and product strategy, having worked across various insurtechs and AI startups. Most recently, at the enterprise agentic marketing platform Yext, he was responsible for building an automated analytics proof-of-concept that transitioned into a full-scale data-infrastructure program. This initiative enabled price rationalisation and data-driven go-to-market decisions, skills that OneAdvent intends to leverage within the delegated authority space to improve commercial outcomes and decision-making processes.
"We got to know Sebastian when he was part of a stellar team sheet who launched a personal lines MGA on our platform, during the insurtech wave. We’ve stayed in touch ever since and I’m really excited that he has agreed to join us to drive our own technology strategy and unlock new opportunities across the delegated authority market."

The companies involved
OneAdvent operates as a specialist MGA incubator and managed services provider, positioned as a bridge for entrepreneurial underwriters and insurtechs looking to bring new products to market. The firm provides the regulatory, operational, and strategic framework necessary for MGAs to launch and scale without the immediate burden of building their own full-scale back-office infrastructure. By offering a platform for delegated authority, OneAdvent allows its partners to focus on niche underwriting and distribution while the incubator handles compliance and capacity management.
In the broader insurance market, OneAdvent occupies a space that facilitates the launch of various personal and commercial lines ventures. The company’s model is built on agility, contrasting itself with the larger, more traditional "behemoths" of the insurance industry. This positioning allows it to integrate new technologies like AI more rapidly than legacy carriers, providing its incubated MGAs with a more modern technological stack for data analysis and risk assessment.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has previously tracked the activity of ventures launching through the OneAdvent platform. In 2021, the publication reported on how InsurTech ARMD Launches Product to Tackle Lack of Cover in Tool Insurance Market. This launch highlighted OneAdvent’s role in supporting niche MGAs that address specific protection gaps, such as the lack of adequate coverage for tradespeople's tools. The partnership with ARMD demonstrated the incubator's capacity to facilitate rapid market entry for technology-led insurance products, a core component of its business model that the new digital innovation department is expected to reinforce.
What this means from an insurtech perspective
This appointment highlights a shift in the MGA incubator model from providing mere regulatory "wrappers" to offering sophisticated technological advantages. By formalising a digital innovation department, OneAdvent is putting pressure on traditional MGAs and legacy brokers who still rely on manual data processing. For the delegated authority market, the focus on AI-driven price rationalisation and data infrastructure is critical; it directly addresses the loss ratio volatility that often plagues niche portfolios. As capacity providers become more selective, MGAs that can demonstrate superior data-led underwriting and operational efficiency through such leadership appointments will likely find it easier to secure and maintain long-term reinsurance support.
