JazzCash has secured the Silver Award in the Banking – Insurtech category at Money20/20 USA 2026 for its Sehat+ health-protection platform. For insurance carriers and MGAs, this recognition highlights the massive scalability of embedded micro-insurance in emerging markets, where paperless claims and mobile-first distribution are successfully overcoming traditional barriers to entry for the informal workforce.

What was announced

The award recognizes Sehat+, a health-protection platform designed to provide affordable and accessible insurance to Pakistan’s informal workforce, including daily-wage earners, small traders, and first-time buyers. The platform has achieved significant scale, currently serving 2.38 million active unique insurance customers. To date, JazzCash has issued 27.7 million policies through the service, which integrates insurance directly into everyday digital transactions.

A key feature of the Sehat+ model is its approach to claims processing. By removing the traditional paperwork requirements that often exclude informal workers from the insurance ecosystem, the platform allows for claims to be paid digitally and without delay. This marks the second consecutive year JazzCash has been recognized at Money20/20 USA, following a Silver Award in 2025 for its ReadyCash lending platform.

In addition to the insurtech win, JazzCash was named a finalist in the Strategic Alliance & Partnership category for its “Paid with Dignity” initiative. This program serves as a disbursement partner for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and other government welfare initiatives in Pakistan, further demonstrating the platform's role in the country's social safety net and financial infrastructure.

The companies involved

JazzCash is Pakistan’s leading digital financial services platform. It operates as a subsidiary of VEON Ltd., a global digital operator listed on the NASDAQ. JazzCash provides a wide range of mobile financial services, including payments, lending, and insurance, aimed at driving financial inclusion in a market with a large unbanked population. The platform recently marked its 10th anniversary, signaling its established position in the Pakistani financial ecosystem.

VEON Ltd., the parent company, is a multinational telecommunication and digital services provider. The group focuses on emerging markets, leveraging its mobile network infrastructure to deploy digital services in sectors such as finance, entertainment, and healthcare. VEON’s strategy involves transforming traditional telco operations into "digital operators," with JazzCash serving as a primary example of this transition in the South Asian market. The group’s involvement in Pakistan is part of a broader portfolio that includes operations in several other high-growth territories.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolution of JazzCash and its parent company, VEON. In September 2026, we reported on how VEON and Beeline Kazakhstan Partner with National Bank to Transform Digital Payment Services, showcasing the group's regional expansion of digital finance. Earlier that month, we covered the platform's technological advancements as JazzCash Launches AI Foundry and Eye-Tracking Lab to Revolutionize Pakistani Fintech.

The company’s partnership strategy has also been a recurring theme. In 2024, Mastercard Recognized JazzCash with the ‘Pioneering Telco to Launch Tap on Phone’ Award, a follow-up to our 2021 report on how JazzCash and Mastercard Introduce New Solutions to Transform Pakistan’s Digital Payment Ecosystem.

What this means from an insurtech perspective

This announcement underscores a shift in how insurance is distributed and serviced in high-volume, low-premium environments. For traditional carriers, the success of Sehat+ proves that the "protection gap" in emerging markets is best closed through embedded models rather than standalone products. The use of paperless claims is particularly disruptive; it challenges the legacy core-system modernization efforts of incumbent vendors by proving that simplified, data-driven claims processing can maintain trust while reducing administrative overhead. As these mobile-led models mature, they put pressure on traditional brokers and insurers to simplify their own underwriting and claims workflows to remain competitive in the micro-insurance space.
