Insurance Corporation of Belize Partners with Agile FT for AI-Native Transformation
By Lauren Towner · 14 October 2026

Insurance Corporation of Belize Ltd. (ICB) is overhauling its digital infrastructure by adopting an AI-native operating platform from Agile Financial Technologies. This transition from legacy core systems to an outcome-driven model signals a shift for regional carriers looking to integrate automated underwriting, natural-language product configuration, and executive intelligence into a single, regulated environment to improve speed and decision-making.
What was announced
ICB has signed an agreement to migrate from its current Agilis Core Insurance Suite to Agilis Ubiquity, an AI-native insurance operating platform, alongside the deployment of Agilis Sentinel. The move follows three years of ICB operating on the vendor’s legacy suite. Unlike traditional modular systems, Agilis Ubiquity is designed to unify insurance rules, AI, and automation, connecting the entire value chain from quotations and renewals to claims, reinsurance, and IFRS processes.
For ICB, the platform will integrate critical functions including underwriting, pricing, and finance within a single operating environment. A key feature of the new platform is its natural-language product builder. This allows authorized teams to define and configure insurance products through conversational input, reducing the complexity and time-to-market for new offerings. The system also handles AML/KYC compliance and regulatory reporting, ensuring that automated processes remain within the boundaries of local governance.
Complementing this is Agilis Sentinel, an executive intelligence platform that provides leadership with continuous data on underwriting performance, risk accumulation, and finance. The implementation is scheduled for a Q1 2027 go-live. To ensure a smooth transition, Agile FT has already demonstrated the migration of ICB’s existing datasets and product mappings. The goal is to move the carrier away from manual transaction processing toward a model where software provides intelligent recommendations and human oversight is supported by comprehensive audit trails across branches, agencies, and digital channels.
"Insurance professionals should not spend their working lives navigating software. Increasingly, software should understand what they are trying to accomplish and bring the information, intelligence, controls, and insurance complexity together around them."
Kalpesh Desai, President & CEO of Agile FT.
The companies involved
Insurance Corporation of Belize Ltd. (ICB) is a prominent insurer in the Belizean market, providing a range of general insurance products through its network of branches and agencies. As a regulated entity, the company manages complex requirements across underwriting, risk accumulation, and compliance. Its leadership, including Chief Executive Officer Dufy Nunez Jr., has focused on technological investment to modernize how the firm serves its partners and customers. The company’s decision to move beyond a conventional system upgrade suggests a strategic focus on operational efficiency and customer experience across its diverse distribution channels.
Agile Financial Technologies (Agile FT) is a provider of specialized software for the insurance and financial services sectors. The company’s Agilis suite has historically focused on core insurance functions, but its newer "Ubiquity" platform represents a pivot toward AI-native architecture. Led by President & CEO Kalpesh Desai, the firm emphasizes moving away from traditional transaction-based software toward systems that prioritize outcomes and intelligence. The vendor’s approach involves integrating automation with human judgment, specifically tailored for the governance needs of regulated insurers. By replacing the traditional module-based architecture with an integrated environment, Agile FT aims to simplify the technical debt often associated with legacy core system modernization. The company has focused on creating systems that understand user intent, particularly through natural-language processing for product development.
What this means from an insurtech perspective
This announcement highlights a growing impatience among mid-market carriers with traditional core system upgrades that merely offer a newer interface for the same legacy processes. By opting for an AI-native platform, ICB is betting that natural-language product configuration can solve the distribution bottleneck that often plagues MGAs and brokers. For the wider industry, this move puts pressure on incumbent core-system vendors who still rely on rigid, module-based architectures. The shift toward executive intelligence platforms like Sentinel suggests that real-time risk accumulation data is becoming a prerequisite for modern reinsurance and capital management, rather than a monthly reporting luxury. This move prioritizes underwriting agility over simple record-keeping.
