Great Hill Partners Backs Aurenity to Scale Tech-Enabled E&S Insurance
By FF News Research (Claude) · 9 September 2026

Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm that invests in high-growth, disruptive companies, has announced a strategic investment in Aurenity, a technology-enabled excess and surplus (E&S) managing general agent. Agman, Aurenity's founding investor, and the company's management team will retain a significant portion of their equity stakes in connection with the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The investment is designed to accelerate Aurenity's next phase of growth: expanding its underwriting talent base to fuel the launch of new specialty programs, while continuing to invest in the automation and systems infrastructure that lets the company scale efficiently with disciplined underwriting. The MGA also plans to invest in AI tools to support underwriting decisions.
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in West Hartford, Connecticut, Aurenity operates as a technology-enabled MGA in the E&S market, which covers specialised, complex or higher-risk exposures that fall outside traditional markets. It has grown to six core E&S programs spanning primary, lead and excess casualty, public entity and religious organisations, and property, supported by a panel of carrier partners.
Leadership named across coverage includes chief executive Nick Davies, chief underwriting officer Doug Trainor, chief operating officer Pat Safino, EVP Excess Casualty Janet Beaver, EVP Primary Casualty Mark Fuderanan, EVP Kevin Thommes (public entity and religious), and EVP John Woie (property). The firm reports a headcount of approximately 26, following 11 million dollars in prior seed-stage funding.
As part of the transaction, Great Hill Managing Directors Matt Vettel and Nick Cayer, along with Principal Bob Anderson, join Aurenity's board of directors.
"Aurenity has demonstrated an ability to increase scale while maintaining underwriting discipline since the firm's original investment." said Scott Silverman, Agman founder and chief executive.
Great Hill's other insurance investments include One Inc (insurance payments network), Pareto (employee benefit group captives) and Second Nature (tenant insurance for the single-family rental market).
