FMA Research Uncovers Significant Insurance Inequity for Tangata Whenua in New Zealand

This research seeks to address gaps in the research and policy literature about experiences of tangata whenua with insurance. It consisted of a literature review, two wānanga - one with Māori working in the insurance industry and one with Māori landholders and governors - and a survey.
This report represents an initial exploration of Māori and insurance including barriers and negative experiences. It also provides a set of experiences and solutions that can provide insights as to how to understand and work towards fixing these inequities.
