Medavie Blue Cross, one of Canada's leading not-for-profit health benefits providers, will now offer a parametric Flight Delay Service to its group benefit members across Canada. The new offering extends an existing partnership between Blink Parametric and the Canadian Blue Cross network into major group business, bringing real-time, automatic travel resolutions to one of the country's largest insured member populations.

Available in both English and French, the benefit covers domestic and worldwide travel. Members who register their flight in advance are protected automatically: a delay of three hours or more triggers VIP airport lounge access or a $40 CAD instant cash payout per person if the lounge is unavailable. Where a delay extends to six hours or beyond, members receive an additional $50 CAD per person plus hotel accommodation for one night, up to $250 CAD. Benefits are capped at $1,000 CAD per policy per year.

There is no claims process. Once a qualifying delay is detected, Blink Parametric's platform sends an automatic notification allowing members to quickly access the available solutions, without any forms or delays.

The partnership represents a significant expansion of the Flight Delay Service within the Canadian Blue Cross network, making this parametric service available to Medavie Blue Cross group plan members. The service is offered in partnership with Canassurance Insurance Company, which distributes Blue Cross travel insurance in multiple provinces.

One of Canada's most trusted insurance providers, Blue Cross was first to launch the Blink Parametric flight disruption real-time assistance solution in the Canadian market in October 2018. The solution is now offered across eight provinces within the Canadian Association of Blue Cross plans, including Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island.

By embedding Blink's real-time support directly into its group policies, Medavie Blue Cross is extending the value of its cover to one of the country's largest insured member populations.

"Medavie Blue Cross is committed to finding practical ways to support our members when they need it most. Flight disruptions are stressful – particularly for group plan members travelling for work or with their families. The availability of the Blink Parametric service to our group members means our members receive immediate, real-time support the moment a qualifying delay occurs, in the language of their choice. We are proud to bring this level of innovation to our group business across Canada." said Jaime Di Donato, Manager Health & Digital Product Solutions, Medavie Blue Cross.

"Canada is an important and growing market for Blink Parametric, and this expansion reflects the confidence that leading insurers are placing in parametric technology. Extending our Blue Cross partnership into major group business means real-time flight delay support is now available to one of the largest insured member populations in the country – delivered automatically, in both English and French, the moment it's needed." said Sid Mouncey, Chief Commercial Officer at Blink Parametric.
