USA Luge today announced that its insurance program is now powered by Golden and backed by Corgi, effective August 1, 2026. Golden by Corgi is a specialized sports and entertainment insurance platform launched by Corgi Insurance in July 2026.

The consolidated program brings commercial general liability, participant legal liability, participant accident and foreign travel medical, abuse and misconduct liability, directors and officers, property and equipment, cyber, and sports crime under one policy, administered by Golden and issued by Sports and Entertainment Insurance Company. It protects USA Luge, its registered clubs and event organizers, and its athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers across sanctioned luge activity, from home tracks in Lake Placid and Park City to the World Cup circuit.

Coverage for USA Luge moved to Golden without interruption, and prior-acts continuity was preserved from the federation's expiring program, so nothing lapsed in the handoff.

The change goes beyond the policy. Golden issues certificates of insurance for clubs and events proactively, so no club chases a certificate the week of a race. A dedicated claims team is the single point of contact for any incident and makes the official coverage determination. Athletes who travel internationally to train and compete are covered by a worldwide foreign travel medical benefit, and every club and member gets free access to the Golden Standard, an expert-backed safety resource hub built for the sport.

“Our athletes take on the fastest sport on ice, and our clubs keep the tracks running,” said USA Luge CEO Scott Riewald. “This gives all of them real protection, with one clear place to go for a certificate or a claim, and it carried over without a gap.”

“We built this for the way luge actually runs, from a first run on a natural track to a World Cup start,” said Peter Akman, Founding Partner at Golden. “As a full-stack carrier, we do better when the sport stays safe, so we are with USA Luge all year, not just at renewal.”

Clubs, coaches, and members can find coverage summaries, request certificates, and file claims at usaluge.org/insurance.
