Gyde has acquired Atlanta-based Capstone Benefits Consulting, marking the AI-native brokerage platform’s first expansion into the group health and employee benefits sector. For carriers, brokers, MGAs, and reinsurers, this move signals a significant shift as AI-driven automation moves beyond individual Medicare and family plans into the complex, relationship-heavy world of enterprise-level benefits consulting where high-touch service remains paramount.

What was announced

Gyde’s acquisition of Capstone Benefits Consulting represents a strategic pivot into the group benefits market. Capstone, located in the Atlanta area, specializes in providing enterprise-grade analytics and technology to employer groups, typically ranging from 25 to 250 employees. The firm also services larger accounts in specific sectors where it holds deep expertise. Under the new arrangement, Capstone will continue to operate under its existing brand, though it will be identified as "powered by Gyde."

Reed Damron, Capstone’s Managing Principal, will join Gyde as a Partner while continuing to lead Capstone. Renie Cochran, Vice President of Sales, will remain in her role to drive growth alongside the existing team. This transaction is Gyde’s seventh acquisition in the seven months following its $60 million funding round in early 2026, which was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. The integration allows Capstone to utilize Gyde’s AI-native platform to automate administrative tasks such as compliance, enrollment, and renewals. This automation is intended to free consultants to focus on strategic advisory work. Capstone recently demonstrated the competitive edge of this technology by securing the Georgia Pharmacy Association benefits program, displacing a national incumbent broker. As Gyde’s first employee benefits partner, Capstone’s team will also influence the development of future AI solutions for the group benefits space.

"Capstone has already proven it can out-tech the small agencies and out-service the large brokers. Their recent wins in Georgia are proof of what that combination can deliver. We always envisioned Gyde transforming brokerages across the insurance lines that cover the most Americans, including small group. So we’re thrilled to welcome Capstone to show how our platform can enhance advisor productivity and deliver an exceptional experience for employers and their teams."

Sam Wiener, Co-Founder and COO of Gyde.

The companies involved

Gyde is an AI-native brokerage platform that has rapidly expanded its footprint in the insurance technology sector. The company gained significant momentum following a $60 million investment round in early 2026, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Historically, Gyde’s technological focus has been on Medicare and Individual and Family Plans (IFP), where its AI tools are used to streamline the renewal and enrollment processes for brokers. By acquiring specialized firms, Gyde is positioning itself as a modern alternative to traditional national brokerages.

Capstone Benefits Consulting, based in Georgia, has spent over a decade positioning itself as a boutique alternative to large-scale national brokers. The firm emphasizes a high-touch service model combined with data analytics, a strategy that has allowed it to secure exclusive partnerships across the state. The acquisition by Gyde provides Capstone with the proprietary AI infrastructure needed to scale its operations without increasing the administrative burden on its consulting staff. This partnership highlights a growing trend of technology-first platforms acquiring established, service-oriented agencies to bridge the gap between automated efficiency and human-led advisory services in the mid-market employer segment.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked Gyde’s technological rollout throughout 2026. In September, we reported on the company’s expansion through a strategic partnership in BenaVest Partners with Gyde to Launch AI Insurance Renewals Platform for Brokers. This collaboration was designed to bring Gyde’s AI tools to a broader range of health insurance agents and agencies. This followed the initial launch of their core technology, which we covered in Gyde Unveils AI Renewals Solution to Automate Medicare and IFP Workflows. That report detailed how the platform’s AI renewals solution was built to automate the high-volume administrative tasks associated with Medicare and individual plans, allowing brokers to prioritize client retention and business growth during peak enrollment periods.

What this means from an insurtech perspective

This acquisition signals a structural shift in the group benefits value chain, where AI-native platforms are now directly challenging the dominance of national incumbent brokers. By automating high-friction administrative tasks like compliance and renewals, the move puts immediate pressure on traditional mid-market agencies still tethered to legacy core systems. For carriers and reinsurers, this tech-led distribution model provides more granular data analytics for employer groups of 25 to 250 employees, potentially refining underwriting precision and loss ratios. However, the sector faces an open question: can AI-driven efficiency preserve the high-touch trust required in complex enterprise consulting? As boutique firms gain the scale of giants through automation, the industry must decide if legacy modernization is sufficient to remain competitive.
