Applied Systems Launches Epic Conductor: Native AI to Automate Insurance Agency Workflows
By Lauren Towner · 30 September 2026

Applied Systems® today marked a shift in how independent agencies operate, announcing Epic Conductor at Applied Net® 2026, a new AI platform built natively into Applied Epic. The launch represents a pivotal moment in Epic's evolution from a system of record into a system of action, executing tasks across the insurance lifecycle, including policy and financial management, and submissions and underwriting, all operating within Epic's existing security permissions and audit guardrails.
Epic Conductor addresses a problem the industry has long tolerated: too much of an agency's time goes to manual work that adds no value and creates unnecessary risk. Nearly half of agency, brokerage and carrier labor still goes to manual data entry, rekeying and validation, driving hundreds of errors and billions in third-party BPO spend. Epic Conductor is built to eliminate that friction, so agencies and brokerages spend less time managing administrative overhead and more time advising clients and winning new business.
Epic Conductor runs AI automation across three agency domains:
Operational Automation: find answers to policy questions instantly. Natural language search finds information across records, documents and activities, reclaiming hours per day. Epic reads policy and new business data straight from carrier documents, saving 55 minutes per submission by eliminating manual rekeying. Policy checking and quote comparison catch a wrong limit or missing endorsement while it's still correctable, saving 32 to 60 minutes per check depending on monoline or multi-line. Certificates draft themselves from live policy and endorsement data, pending approval before issuance.
Financial Automation: close every dollar in one ledger. The system of record for every financial transaction tied to a policy, from invoicing and AR posting through trust accounting and GL close. One carrier document automatically generates the policy, transaction, and invoice, all booked to the agency's correct branch and profit center. Extraction is 99% accurate across 90+ carriers, with no manual data mapping required. Epic pulls commission statements from carrier portals on schedule, so month-end starts with reconciling instead of gathering, cutting reconciliation hours by 90%. Epic generates premium finance agreements from carrier quotes, presented alongside card and ACH. Cash settles automatically against the right record, cutting days out of the bind-to-paid cycle.
Connected Trading: cut the friction out of carrier collaboration. Submissions, quotes, and renewals move between agencies and carriers through Applied's existing connections. Every marketed submission lives in one view in Epic, with status, checklists, and quotes by carrier. Submission handling time drops 60%, and Account Managers get 2+ hours back every day. ACORD applications fill themselves in from submission documents, ending repeat data entry across forms. Renewal quote requests draw on data Epic already holds, go out to each carrier in its required format, and return inside Epic in 3 hours instead of 3+ days. No separate portal or inbox check required.
"Many of the AI solutions available today are features solving a narrow use case, not connecting work across the whole policy lifecycle," said Lance Williams, chief product officer, Applied. "Our ambition is to apply AI to do what nobody else can: connect the work that moves from operations to finance and trading teams and out to carriers, removing the friction that stalls it to drive real business outcomes faster. That's what Epic Conductor does: it conducts the work itself, so agencies and brokerages get the time back to serve clients and write more business."
