Press Release: AnchorWatch Trust Company Launches Qualified Bitcoin Custody with Fixed-Dollar Pricing | Featured Image by FF News

AnchorWatch Trust Company (ATC) has officially opened as a Nevada state-chartered qualified custodian for Bitcoin. By introducing a fixed-dollar fee structure and multi-institution key distribution, the firm is challenging the industry-standard percentage-of-assets pricing model, offering institutional investors and fiduciaries a more predictable way to secure digital assets while maintaining insurance coverage.

What was announced

ATC, authorized by the Nevada Financial Institutions Division, provides qualified custody for public companies, fiduciaries, high-net-worth individuals, and both revocable and irrevocable trusts. The service launched on October 19, offering two distinct custody models designed to eliminate single points of failure. The "Flagship Custody" model allows clients, trustees, or executives to hold additional keys alongside AnchorWatch Trust Company. Alternatively, the "Multi-Institution Custody" model distributes key control across three separate entities: AnchorWatch Trust Company, BitGo in the United States, and CoinCorner in the Isle of Man.

A key differentiator for the new custodian is its pricing structure. Unlike most custodians that charge a percentage of assets under management (AUM), ATC uses fixed-dollar tiers. These monthly fees are capped at $10,000, meaning that as the value of Bitcoin increases or more assets are added to the vault, the cost remains stable. For large enterprises, this cap is intended to provide predictable pricing and potential six- or seven-figure annual savings compared to traditional percentage-based models.

Security is underpinned by the Trident Vault, which has been operational for 20 months and has undergone audits by Halborn and Doyensec. Furthermore, ATC offers optional insurance backed by A+ rated Lloyd’s of London syndicates. As a Lloyd’s Coverholder, AnchorWatch has the authority to write policies up to a $370 million limit per ATC client. These policies are issued in the name of the customer and provide coverage against loss due to perils such as violent coercion, kidnapping, or internal fraud. Insurance is currently available to U.S.-domiciled entities and residents.

The companies involved

AnchorWatch is the parent entity behind the newly launched AnchorWatch Trust Company. Based in Nevada, the firm has positioned itself as a specialist in Bitcoin security and insurance, having completed SOC 2 examinations and secured licensing to distribute surplus lines insurance across its operating states. The company’s Trident Vault technology serves as the technical foundation for its custody and insurance offerings.

The launch involves collaboration with established players in the digital asset space. BitGo, one of the primary partners in ATC’s multi-institution model, is a major institutional digital asset infrastructure provider. It has a significant market presence, recently expanding its reach through a dedicated research arm and various global settlement partnerships. CoinCorner, the third partner in the multi-institution key distribution, is a Bitcoin exchange and payment provider based in the Isle of Man. By involving these three distinct entities across different jurisdictions—Nevada, the broader U.S., and the Isle of Man—ATC aims to provide a custody architecture that meets the rigorous compliance and security requirements of regulated entities.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has extensively tracked the evolution of institutional Bitcoin infrastructure, particularly through the activities of ATC’s partner, BitGo. Recent coverage includes BitGo’s expansion into global markets, such as when BitGo and OKX Expand Institutional Off-Exchange Settlement to Global Markets. The firm has also been active in enhancing its service suite for professional investors, as seen when BitGo Launches Dedicated Research Arm; Appoints Greg Cipolaro as Head of Research.

Additionally, FF News reported on BitGo’s strategic moves to integrate with broader financial ecosystems, including its partnership with HashKey Cloud for Institutional Digital Asset Infrastructure and its efforts to connect Institutional Wallets with Hyperliquid for onchain trading. This history of institutional collaboration sets the stage for the multi-institution custody model now being utilized by AnchorWatch.

What this means

The entry of AnchorWatch Trust Company into the qualified custody market signals a shift toward more transparent, "flat-fee" financial models in the digital asset sector. For years, the percentage-of-AUM model has been a point of friction for large-scale holders who feel penalized by market appreciation. By capping fees at $10,000 a month, ATC is directly targeting the profit margins of established custodians. Furthermore, the integration of Lloyd’s of London insurance directly into the client’s name addresses a long-standing criticism of "pooled" insurance policies. This move puts pressure on competitors to justify their fee structures and insurance clarity as the sector matures and institutional requirements become more stringent.
