Press Release: Vonage and Bdeo Launch Quality on Demand API to Revolutionize Live Insurance Claims | Featured Image by FF News

AI-powered insurtech Bdeo has deployed a suite of Vonage network-powered solutions, including the Quality on Demand (QoD) Network API, to enhance remote claims and underwriting. For insurance carriers and MGAs, this integration addresses the persistent challenge of poor connectivity during visual evidence capture, directly improving the fidelity of data fed into automated damage assessment engines.

What was announced

Bdeo has integrated Vonage’s Quality on Demand (QoD), Video, and Messages APIs into its white-label visual intelligence platform. This deployment represents one of the first instances of the QoD API being used in full commercial production at an enterprise level. Working in partnership with Telefónica, the system is designed to monitor live video sessions between policyholders and loss adjusters. If network conditions deteriorate below the threshold required for reliable evidence capture, the QoD Network API automatically invokes network prioritisation to maintain a high-quality stream.

The workflow begins with the Vonage Messages API sending a secure link via RCS or SMS to the policyholder. This link allows the user to capture photo or video evidence of damage immediately, facilitating a faster first notification of loss (FNOL) and removing friction from the initial steps of the claims process. The Vonage Video API then enables real-time visual assessments, reducing the necessity for physical inspections by loss adjusters and shortening overall cycle times. By prioritising the mobile uplink connection, the Vonage QoD Network API ensures that Bdeo’s AI receives high-resolution visual data. This improved input allows for more accurate automated damage detection, reducing the requirement for manual human review and helping insurers meet compliance standards more consistently.

The companies involved

Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, Bdeo was founded in 2017 as a visual intelligence platform specifically for the insurance sector. The company operates as a white-label provider, allowing carriers to integrate AI-driven damage assessment into their own branded customer journeys. Bdeo has established a significant footprint in Europe and Latin America, currently serving over 50 insurers across more than 25 countries. Its market presence is particularly dominant in its home market of Spain, where it works with eight of the ten leading motor insurers and manages more than 50 percent of all motor insurance underwriting.

Vonage, the provider of the API infrastructure, is a subsidiary of the Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC). Since its acquisition by Ericsson, Vonage has increasingly focused on programmable connectivity and the development of network APIs that allow developers to access 5G capabilities. The company provides a range of communications services, including video, voice, and messaging APIs, which are used by businesses globally to orchestrate customer interactions and secure digital identities across various sectors.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed Bdeo’s growth as it expands its footprint in the claims management space. In early 2025, we reported on how S&G Response Partners With Bdeo AI to Streamline and Empower Claims Management, highlighting the company's role in automating complex workflows. This followed earlier milestones, such as when Insurtech Bdeo now automating more than 50% of motor insurance underwriting in Spain.

Regarding Vonage, our coverage has touched on their broader technological achievements and strategic partnerships. This includes recognition for their security products, such as when the Vonage Identity Insights API Secures Gold at 2026 Merit Awards for Technology. Additionally, we have covered their international expansion in the payments sector, notably when Vonage Partners with Meta to Enable Secure and Instant Payments through WhatsApp in Singapore.

What this means from an insurtech perspective

This deployment addresses a critical bottleneck in the digitisation of claims: the "garbage in, garbage out" problem of AI underwriting. While many MGAs and carriers have adopted visual AI, the effectiveness of these tools is often limited by poor user-generated content. By leveraging network-level prioritisation, Bdeo is shifting the responsibility of data quality away from the policyholder and onto the infrastructure itself. This moves the needle for claims adjusters who can now rely on higher-fidelity evidence, potentially lowering loss ratios through more accurate damage detection. For incumbent vendors, the pressure is now on to provide similar "network-aware" solutions that ensure reliability in the field, where standard mobile connectivity often fails to meet the requirements of modern AI models.
