UAE-based insurtech Shory has launched Shory AI, an intelligent agent designed to manage the end-to-end car insurance journey through natural conversation. For carriers and brokers, this represents a shift from passive chatbots to active transactional AI, streamlining complex policy comparisons and purchases within a single interface to reduce friction in the region’s digital insurance market.

What was announced

Unveiled at the Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026 summit on 8 October 2026, Shory AI is a conversational tool built to assist customers in understanding, comparing, and purchasing motor insurance. Unlike traditional chatbots that are limited to answering static FAQs, this intelligent agent is integrated directly into Shory’s digital insurance infrastructure to take an active role in the decision-making process.

The system is capable of comparing available quotes in real-time and providing detailed explanations regarding differences in coverage, specific benefits, and policy exclusions. It is designed to operate in both English and Arabic, catering to the diverse demographic of the UAE market. Beyond providing information, Shory AI is built to guide users through the final transaction, assisting them in completing the car insurance purchase once a policy has been selected.

By consolidating the evaluation of multiple policies and pricing terms into a single interaction, the tool aims to solve the complexity inherent in traditional insurance shopping. The launch marks a specific application of Shory’s investment in AI, focusing on the practical transition from customer consideration to policy issuance within a unified conversational experience.

"Insurance can be difficult to navigate, particularly when customers are comparing policies with different levels of coverage, benefits and exclusions. We see a real opportunity for AI to give people more clarity and confidence when making those decisions. Shory AI reflects where we believe the insurance experience is heading, with technology playing a more active role in helping customers understand their options and make informed choices."

The companies involved

Shory is a prominent insurtech operator in the Middle East, positioning itself as a specialist in digital insurance infrastructure. The company operates as a First.tech company and is a key component of Judan Financial Holding. Judan serves as the dedicated financial services platform for International Holding Company (IHC), one of the largest and most influential conglomerates in the United Arab Emirates.

The company’s place in the market is defined by its focus on removing the manual hurdles typically associated with the insurance sector. By leveraging its relationship with Judan Financial Holding and the broader IHC ecosystem, Shory has been able to integrate its services into various government and private sector platforms. Its strategy centers on applying advanced technology to the practical areas of the insurance journey, specifically targeting clarity and convenience for the end-user. As the region continues to push for digital transformation in financial services, Shory has emerged as a high-growth player within the Abu Dhabi tech hub.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has tracked Shory’s rapid integration into the UAE’s digital economy over the last year. In August 2025, the company collaborated with Wio Bank to launch Drive Now, Pay Later: Shory and Wio Bank Unveil Embedded Car Insurance With Monthly Installments, a move that brought flexible payment structures to the motor insurance sector. This was followed in November 2025 by a significant public sector integration, where Shory Onboards New Digital Vehicle Insurance Service on TAMM 4.0, the Abu Dhabi Government’s AI-powered Platform. More recently, in March 2026, the firm expanded its ecosystem through a Rafid Automotive Solutions Signs Strategic Partnership With Shory, further cementing its presence in the automotive services value chain.

What this means from an insurtech perspective

Shory AI signals a transition from search-and-filter models to consult-and-convert workflows. By moving from static FAQs to active transactional agents that explain exclusions and benefits, this technology puts significant pressure on traditional brokers and incumbent vendors reliant on legacy interfaces. For carriers, the ability to integrate directly into a conversational agent offers a more nuanced distribution channel than standard aggregators. However, this shift raises critical regulatory questions regarding the boundary between technical assistance and regulated advice. As AI begins handling the final transaction, the industry must grapple with how automated explanations of complex policy terms impact customer trust and professional liability within the digital insurance value chain.
