Alpha TR Limited (Alpha) is a London-based specialty managing general agent (MGA) offering international transactional risk (TR) insurance with a focus on the private capital sector. Alpha will not operate in the USA market.

Alpha is an approved Lloyd’s of London (Lloyd’s) coverholder and can deploy £40m of capital per risk with capacity from AXA XL and Probitas (Aviva Syndicates). Alpha is an appointed representative of Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus and Temasek.

The management team will be led by Richard Taylor-Whiteway (Managing Director) alongside Dave Luckett (Director) and Laurence Tarr (Director). Richard, Dave, and Laurence are highly-experienced senior TR professionals with a proven track record and international private capital pedigree.

“The opportunity to work alongside two best-in-class transactional risk underwriters, with a significant line from blue chip risk capital, and supported by SRG, is irresistible,” Richard said.

“We look forward to assisting our clients and broker partners with executing their transactions and delivering above-market results for our capacity providers.”

Alpha was originally set-up by CBC UK Limited (CBC) but, after a restructure of CBC following its sale to SRG, Alpha no longer aligned with the wider group’s long-term strategy. Alpha was acquired by Alpha Risk Holdco Limited (Alpha Holdco), a company controlled by Richard, on 15 September 2026. Electra Callan and Daniel Williams led the Mayer Brown team acting for Alpha Holdco.
