1 September 2026

HDI Global (HDI) has appointed Tobias Sigurdsson as Global Head of Fine Art & Specie, strengthening its position in a growing specialty segment covering high-value assets and complex global risks. With this appointment, the Corporate & Specialty insurer underlines its ambition to grow in specialty lines by combining global expertise with strong local execution.
Sigurdsson brings more than two decades of experience in Marine and Specialty insurance. He joined HDI Global in 2017 and has played a key role in developing the insurer’s Cargo and Specie business. He was responsible for Cargo underwriting in the Nordics and Specie underwriting globally, contributing to a lead market position in the Specie segment.
In his new function, Sigurdsson will focus fully on expanding HDI Global’s Fine Art & Specie offering. This includes further strengthening the company’s footprint globally, including in the London market, while also developing local underwriting capabilities in key regions to better serve clients and brokers with domestic risks.
Fine Art & Specie insurance covers a broad spectrum of exposures, including museums, galleries, and private collections, as well as cash, precious metals, jewellery, and other high-value assets.
“Fine Art & Specie is a highly specialised line of business where expertise, underwriting discipline, and global reach are crucial. I am therefore pleased to appoint Tobias as the head of our unit. Building on the strong development of our Specie portfolio in recent years, he and his team will now aim to further expand our capabilities and provide clients and brokers with even more bespoke solutions.” said Rafael Rebitzky, Global Head of Specialty Lines at HDI Global
Sigurdsson started his career in marine insurance in 2002 after completing a law degree at Uppsala University and specialising in maritime law at the University of Oslo. In addition to his executive roles, he has held several industry positions, including membership in international cargo insurance committees.
“I am honoured and excited to take on the role of Global Head of Fine Art & Specie. Together with my team, we will support clients in protecting complex and high-value risks worldwide. Fine Art & Specie is a line of business that calls for bespoke solutions, and we are more than capable of delivering these as a trusted Partner in Transformation for our clients and brokers.” said Tobias Sigurdsson, Global Head of Fine Art & Specie at HDI Global
