Professional services firm Davies is consolidating its forensic accounting and engineering divisions under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Gerry Bouwman. This strategic integration aims to streamline the handling of complex insurance claims and multidisciplinary investigations, signaling a shift toward more unified, specialist-led service models within the highly regulated global insurance and fintech sectors.

What was announced

Davies has appointed Gerry Bouwman as CEO – Forensic Accounting & Engineering, a role that becomes effective on 1 October 2026. In this newly created position, Bouwman will oversee a unified practice that brings together MDD, the firm’s forensic accounting business, and Pario, which specializes in forensic engineering, environmental sciences, and post-loss appraisal. Reporting to Mark Grocott, Chief Executive Officer - Global Solutions, Bouwman will be responsible for the strategy, performance, and growth of the combined forensic entities.

The restructuring follows the acquisition of SCM Insurance Services (SCM) in November 2025. That deal integrated three major operating businesses into the Davies global platform: ClaimsPro, a leading Canadian claims adjusting firm; IPG, a third-party claims administrator; and Pario. Under the new leadership structure, both MDD and Pario will maintain their established brand identities while operating as a single multidisciplinary unit. This arrangement is designed to provide clients with more direct access to cross-functional expertise, particularly for high-stakes investigations and disputes that require both financial and technical engineering analysis.

Supporting Bouwman in this transition is Martin Grech, who has held a leadership role at Pario since 2018. Grech will continue to lead the Forensic Engineering segment as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Forensic Engineering. His focus will remain on maintaining client continuity and driving the development of the engineering and environmental science capabilities within the broader Davies framework. The move is a core component of the firm’s Vision 2030 ambitions, which focus on connecting complementary specialist services across international markets.

"Bringing together our forensic accounting and forensic engineering expertise creates a distinctive proposition for clients. As claims investigations and disputes become increasingly complex, clients need different specialist disciplines working together to help them resolve issues quickly and effectively. Bouwman is ideally placed to lead this next phase, strengthening collaboration across MDD and Pario while expanding the breadth of support we provide to clients globally."

The companies involved

Davies is a prominent specialist professional services and technology business headquartered in London. The firm operates primarily within the insurance sector and other highly regulated industries, providing a mix of claims handling, underwriting, and consulting services. Over recent years, Davies has aggressively expanded its global footprint through a series of strategic acquisitions, positioning itself as a technology-led alternative to traditional consultancy firms.

MDD is the forensic accounting arm of the group, providing economic damage quantification and financial investigations for insurers, law firms, and corporate clients. Pario, formerly part of SCM Insurance Services before its 2025 acquisition by Davies, provides forensic engineering and environmental services. Its expertise covers post-loss appraisals and technical investigations into the causes of property and infrastructure failure. By housing these two distinct disciplines under one executive leadership, Davies aims to capture a larger share of the complex claims market, which often requires the simultaneous application of financial forensics and physical engineering analysis to resolve disputes in international jurisdictions.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolution of Davies as it executes its long-term growth strategy. In early 2025, the firm signaled a major shift in its internal structure when Davies Appoints Matt Button as Deputy Group CEO as Firm Invests for the Future and Unveils Its Vision-2030 Strategy. This was followed by further executive strengthening in the fall of that year, as Davies Appoints Mark DiMaio as Head of Capital Markets to Drive Global Expansion.

The firm’s focus on technological integration was highlighted in August 2026, when Davies Selects Initia Risk to Scale Global Risk and Compliance Framework. This emphasis on digital transformation is particularly relevant given Davies' own research into the sector; FF News previously noted that Almost Two Thirds (59%) of Financial Services Firms Admit They Are Risk Averse When It Comes to Technology, a trend Davies appears to be countering through its own aggressive tech adoption and platform scaling.

What this means

The consolidation of forensic accounting and engineering marks a significant move toward the "one-stop-shop" model for complex insurance claims. In an era where climate-related disasters and large-scale industrial failures require immediate, multidisciplinary responses, the traditional siloed approach to forensics is becoming a liability. By merging these capabilities, Davies is placing direct pressure on niche forensic firms that lack the scale to offer integrated technical and financial oversight. This announcement raises a critical question for the sector: will the market continue to favor specialized boutiques, or is the industry entering a phase of permanent consolidation where scale and multidisciplinary breadth are the only ways to remain competitive in high-value disputes?
