Mapfre Re Names Benoit Goureau as Director of Brussels Management Center

Mapfre Re has appointed Benoit Goureau as the new director of its Brussels Management Center, a position he will hold under the coordination of Mark Meyerhoff, Regional Director for EMEA. The appointment was approved earlier this month by the company’s Management Committee, taking effect 15 September 2026.
Benoit Goureau joined Mapfre Re’s Paris Management Center in June 2024 as a Reinsurance Underwriter in Non-Life Treaty/Claims Underwriting. Since April 2025, he has served as Senior Reinsurance Underwriter, a position he held until his new appointment.
Goureau brings more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, with a strong track record in reinsurance underwriting and client and broker management, having held senior leadership positions at leading companies in the industry.
Benoit Goureau succeeds Bernard Chanteux in the role, who is leaving Mapfre to begin a new professional chapter.
MAPFRE Re is a global reinsurer and the reinsurance unit of the MAPFRE Group, with 19 offices around the world, and doing business in over 100 countries. MAPFRE Re offers reinsurance services and capacity, providing all kinds of treaty and facultative reinsurance solutions, in all Life and Non-Life branches.
In 2025, it recorded premiums of 8.4 billion euros and net earnings of 381 million euros, 17.2% more than the previous year, including, of which Reinsurance contributes €329.5 million with a combined ratio of 91.7% and the Global Risks business delivers €51.5 million and a combined ratio of 84.8%.
